One of my favorite breakfasts paired with clotted cream, jam, and a nice hot latte. Perfect on a lazy Sunday morning! Thanks to Alton Brown for the recipe.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 27 grams butter
  • 2 tablespoons shortening
  • 3/4 cup cream
  • 1 egg
  • 1 handful almonds crushed

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375F/190C.
  • Combine dry ingredients. 
  • Cut butter and shortening into the flour.
  • In a small bowl, whisk cream with the egg.
  • Pour egg into the flour and mix to combine.
  • Roll out dough on a floured surface and use a biscuit cutter to form the scones.
  • Place scones on a greased baking sheet and bake 15 minutes, or until golden-brown.
